Here at Chiro1Source, we’ve been trying to do our part by keeping supplies in stock. Cleaning supplies in particular have been in high demand, and we’re working hard to make sure all of our orders are filled and our clients can get what they need. It’s been a challenge, but it has also forced us to be more focused than ever. Personally, I’ve been relying on my routines to get me through this crazy time of uncertainty and social distancing. I had some rituals set up before things went nuts, and sticking with them has helped me push through. As of this writing, I’m still working out, eating healthy, and relying on the words of experts like Navy SEAL David Goggins to keep me motivated and focused. Another thing that’s been getting me through has been good news! It’s been easy to find here in Farmville. People here are banding together to support local restaurants, and my church is even filming services and putting them on YouTube to keep us connected. This pandemic definitely brought out the worst in some people, but I think for 99% of us, it brought out the best. One of my favorite stories to come out of Farmville so far is the tale of the fifth-grade teachers who got together to make a video for their students over spring break. Instead of just filming a typical video message, the four of them got creative, taking inspiration from James Corden’s "Carpool Karaoke." They all hopped in a car, cranked up the music, and sang and danced their way through the message. It was so awesome and uplifting to watch that it went viral, getting more than 15,000 views in just a few days. So thanks, H.B. Suggs Elementary School teachers, for making me and the rest of the country smile! Apart from funny videos, one thing that has been comforting for me is knowing that we’re all in this together. I knowwe’ll get through the pandemic and come out the other side to whatever the new normal looks like. And when we do, we’ll deal with that together, too! In the meantime, I’m thankful for the support Chiro1Source has had for all of these years and continues to have. We couldn’t do this without you.

I’m not going to lie, we’ve had a few hiccups as we’ve responded to the pandemic. But our clients have been unfailingly patient, supportive, and caring as we’ve figured things out, and I’m beyond grateful for that. Those positive attitudes are even more incredible considering most chiropractors across the country have stayed open and continued to work through the pandemic. I can’t imagine how stressful it must be to work in close proximity with patients every day while the threat of the virus hovers. It’s amazing that our clients have the heart and determination to keep caring for people even now.

KEEP YOUR BRAIN YOUNG 3 TIPS FOR GOOD BRAIN HEALTH FROM HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL As we age, our bodies change, including our mental functions. Cognitive decline is one of the biggest fears of aging, but it’s not inevitable. Though we’re still learning new things about how our brains work, there’s a lot of scientific research that shows how to keep your brain young. If you want to keep your mind sharp throughout your lifetime, then follow this advice from Harvard Medical School.

GO THE CLE AND PURIFY T

Now more than ever, it’s important for chiropractors to offer their patients treatment in a clean, sterile, odorless environment. You’re probably already doing the best you can to provide that with disinfectant, regular surface wipedowns, and protective gear like gloves and masks. However, you can take another step: investing in an air purifier.

1. GET A GOODWORKOUT.

Exercising regularly helps all the muscles and organs in your body, even your brain! A good workout can lower your blood pressure and improve your cholesterol levels, which help your brain and your heart. Harvard Health Publishing, a website of Harvard Medical School, also notes that “animals who exercise regularly increase the number of tiny blood vessels that bring oxygen-rich blood to the region of the brain that is responsible for thought.”

2. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR MENTAL HEALTH.

It’s not enough to focus on yourself. In order to maintain your long-term cognitive health, you should also focus on your connections with other people. According to Harvard Health Publishing, “Strong social ties have been associated with a lower risk of dementia, as well as lower blood pressure and longer life expectancy.” Make new friends, stay in touch with family members, and maintain positive relationships in your life.

They say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This is certainly true when it comes to your brain health. Do what you can today to protect your mental functions tomorrow.
