Continuous Improvement

• Drive efficiencies, functional alignment and removal of duplication of activity across the portfolio, undertaking business process engineering to maximise efficiency and enhance service delivery. • Continually evolve the department’s delivery models and processes to increase efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness to the communities we support. • Lead the necessary operational and cultural change to deliver E&F’s strategic aims; this includes undertaking structural change to meet the challenges ahead. • Create a centre of expertise which understands, supports and enables the needs of the communities it serves; Continually learn from successes and failures to prepare the department for the future. • Make recommendations for improving effectiveness of policies and procedures within the department and in the directorate. • Ensure positive student and staff experience drives decision making throughout the department. • Introduce co-design practices, so that end-users are brought into the design phase of initiatives, projects and/or services. In this way, empower the professoriate, researchers, King’s College London Students’ Union (KCLSU) and students to shape their experience. • Use best evidence and critical inquiry to inform decision-making. • Bring greater transparency and accountability in decision-making, increased engagement and improved communication within E&F, Professional Services and Faculties. • Consult with SLT member to ensure alignment in services/projects delivery. Collaboration & Decision Making

Finance Management

• Review and endorse/revise budget proposals received from direct reports, including staffing and facilities requirements forecasts. • Submit budgets for assigned activities in accordance with the budget setting procedure, working closely with Finance business partners. • Approve budget expenses within approval limits, operating in accordance with the university’s Financial Procedures to ensure compliance, value for money and adequate return on investment at all times.
