and thoughtfulness will keep the love- light burning. Planning for the wel fare and the blessing of others en hances the beauty of this love. Love gives and keeps on giving. Love causes sins to be covered and faults and failures to be minimized. Love never gossips nor does it advertise the shortcomings of others. Love is not indifferent to the desires of oth ers. When love fills the home each one serves the other with a happy heart and a willing mind. The Home Should Be Filled With Plans 2 Chron. 27:6 It is one of the characteristics of a happy home that the members of the family consult about their various affairs. Birthday parties are planned to bring the sweetest joy to the one whose birthday is to be honored. The picnics and the trips are planned so that they occur at the most propitious time for all the family. The evenings are planned with regard to the chil dren’s studies, the piano practice, and the other various activities that oc cupy the time of family members. The church life is planned so that all may participate in those blessings. The Home Should Be Filled With Hospitality Heb. 13:2 The father will want to bring home business associates or customers. The mother will want to bring her friends in for a meal or for the evening. Rel atives will want to come and stay a few days. The children will want to bring their playmates and classmates. There should always be an atmosphere of sweet welcome and a cordial hos pitality so that friends who come will feel at ease and rejoice in the welcome they receive. In this gracious atmos phere love is fostered, kindness grows, and the Word of God is easily heard and believed. The Home Should Be Filled With Godliness Prov. 22:6 The seeds of the future life are planted in the hearts of the children around the fireplace or the piano. If there is profanity or liquor or ques tionable literature, then the home becomes a place which fosters sinful living and ungodliness. If, however, the Bible is read, family prayers are conducted, the Word of God is dis cussed, then the children receive an impression of goodness and godliness which will be carried over into the new life they live after leaving the home. The Lord should have the pre- |eminence in every home.

May 27, 1951 WHEN SUMMER COMES Psa. 19:1-14 God has written two books, both of which we should study carefully and enjoy fully. God’s outdoor book is nature with all of its beautiful, remarkable, and mysterious features in the mineral, vegetable, and animal kingdoms. In nature we observe the wisdom, knowl edge, and power of God. We see re markable mysteries which cannot be understood. The other book is the Bible, God’s indoor book. This also is filled with mysteries. There are many things we cannot understand but there are also many things we cannot misunderstand. Let us read both of these books constantly and let the Lord be magnified in our souls. We May Read of His Power Rom. 1:20 God by His Word made the huge sun and hung it upon nothing. He made this wonderful earth and hung it in space with no supports. He con trols the movements of all the heaven ly bodies. He regulates the growth and the size of everything that lives. So in the spiritual world He is the author of life and of life eternal. He ordains the affairs of men here and provides for them hereafter. He sus tains the life that He gave and en riches the life by revelations of Him self to the soul. By His great power He gives life to the dead and light to those who sit in darkness. He pre serves and protects and provides for all who trust in Him. We May Read of His Love Psa. 145:15, 16 The love of God for His enemies is wonderful. The love of God for His church is marvelous. When we read that God so loved the world it causes us to stand in awe of such a God. The world is full of most unlovely people. Multitudes are defiling and defiled by wickedness and sin. They live on the filth of their minds and of their bodies until they are actually outcast from society. It is Christ’s own word that God loves every person. We do not question how nor why. We only be lieve His Word and bow our hearts in worship. His love was revealed in all of its fullness at Calvary. We May Read of His Knowledge Psa. 104:27 God had a wonderful imagination when He made this earth. Out of His own mind and with no pattern, He made the 97 chemical elements. Of His own knowledge and understanding T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S
