Families will continue living inside them. Storms will test them, and children not yet born will one day run through rooms Robert helped make safe. Another builder, superintendent or tradesperson will stand on a job site and make a decision informed, perhaps unknowingly, by something he once taught. That is the future he is building toward: not the preservation of one man’s name, but the continuation of care. When asked to reduce his life’s work to a single message for the industry, Robert pauses beneath the weight of the question. There is too much to say and a lifetime behind every possible answer. In the end, he returns to the principle that has guided every foundation, difficult decision and promise made to a family. “Build it like it matters, because it does,” he says. “Every detail, every decision, every step matters. Above all, build with purpose, integrity and care for the people who will live within it.”
Then his voice turns from instruction to gratitude.
