For Richard, the recognition isn't defined by the buildings he helped construct, the projects he completed, or even the honor itself. It's knowing that along the way, he helped shape the people who will carry the industry forward. Throughout his career, Richard has devoted significant time to mentoring the next generation of engineers, builders, and business leaders. He worries that younger generations are sometimes too focused on immediate outcomes rather than long-term growth. He frequently reminds students that education is only the beginning. "The degrees only give you a basic understanding. It's the real world that teaches you the application." It is a lesson learned through experience and one he continues to pass forward every chance he gets.
