ANOTHER HURDLE CLEARED FOR OLD PPG LAND REDEVELOPMENT

Redevelopment of the old PPG industrial property in Hawkesbury is almost ready to begin. Council approved a recommendation in a planning department report presented during Monday’s session that will allow changes to the Official Plan for the municipality and allow a redevelopment project to go ahead on the former industrial land. The numbered company, 8362505 Canada Inc. has secured approval from the .JOJTUSZPG&OWJSPONFOUGPSJUTEPDVNFOUB - tion that shows the site has undergone an environmental examination and cleansing to remove any trace of soil contaminants left behind from its past use as industrial property. The company has also completed noise and traffic studies, and included details in its development plan for dealing with those issues. The PPG site is located at 545 Industriel Boulevard, between County Road 17 and the intersection of Cartier Boulevard and Spence Avenue. The company plans to redevelop the land for a major residential area and a small commercial section. The residential portion will comprise 740 units, with a mixture of single-family, townhouse, and apartment building dwellings.
