ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT Susan Kabadi Major: DiagnosticMedical Sonography (May 2017) Employer/Role: University of Virginia Health System, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Tell us about your job: "My favorite part about my job is having the opportunity to help others. I am motivated each day to perform my best work since many of the medical findings made through Ultrasound imaging are significant. I also enjoy the technical aspect of the field and keeping up with new applications in development." How did PVCC prepare you for your job? "PVCC gave me a comprehensive education in Sonography through their hands-on teaching approach as well as their didactic instruction in the classroom. Throughout the program, I was able to integrate what I was reading in textbooks with what I was learning to scan. I also had the opportunity to rotate through several clinical sites ranging from outpatient centers to large academic hospitals. This allowed me to be exposed to different workflows, equipment and techniques. Further, it gave me the opportunity to scan many different patients and build upon the foundation that was provided in the program." 28
