ECOC CONFERENCE & EXPO 6th-10th December, Brussels EXPO, Brussels, Belgium

THE CONFERENCE ECOC is the largest conference on optical communication in Europe and one of the most respected and long-standing events of its kind in the world. ECOC 2020, from 6th – 10th December 2020, will be the 46th edition, which is an indication of the stability and the attractiveness of this conference as one of the world’s major events in the field. It provides a prime forum for new developments and research in optical communication techniques and networks, and the 2020 event will continue to fulfil this role.

optical networks, transmission systems, backbone and core networks, access and local area networks. As has been the case at ECOC 2018 and all even years, Brussels will also host a CLEO Focus Meeting within the ECOC 2020 programme. The conference will also include several initiatives such as workshops, demo-sessions and events which will focus on and highlight the importance of the Horizon 2020 programme in the fields covered by ECOC. THE EXHIBITION Running alongside the Conference on 7th – 9th December, the ECOC Exhibition will make a symbolic return to Brussels, Belgium, the location of its inaugural year in 1995. Emma Harvey, commercial director at exhibition organiser Nexus Media Events Ltd said, “The fibre optic industry has come a long way since our first event, and we’ve been lucky to have been a part of some significant industry milestones during that time. We’ve got a lot in store this year and are excited to be celebrating ECOC’s 25th anniversary with our partners and supporters. After what has been a testing year for the industry, we are thrilled to announce the introduction of the ECOC Awards at this year’s event to recognise the key players and innovators in optical connections.”

The conference will take place at the Brussels Expo in Belgium and will consist of a set of high-level plenary speakers, tutorials, invited papers, workshops, symposia, and most importantly, parallel sessions with industry contributions, technical papers, demonstrations and posters. The programme will highlight new breakthroughs in the field of optical communications in different areas such as: fibres, fibre devices and amplifiers, waveguide and optoelectronic devices, subsystems and network elements for
