Who Are You Grateful For?

Make Sure They Know

The season of Thanksgiving is a time to dwell on everything we feel grateful for, whether it be good health, a happy family, positive relationships, or a combination of all. If we’re fortunate enough to be born with these blessings, we might take them for granted. It’s only when they’re not there that we struggle. In the past, I know I’ve taken good health for granted. Going through some health challenges this year has been a reminder that I need to take care of the things I appreciate most. Dad” by Greg Vaughn. Greg lost his father to Alzheimer’s, and afterward, Greg was left searching for something that his father left behind, a message, token, or anything he could hold onto to remember his dad. In this void, Greg realized that if he died suddenly, his family would be left with little to show how much he cared for them. This realization prompted him to write letters to his wife, children, and other family members to express how much they mean to him. “Letters From Dad” brought home not only how much we have to be grateful for but also how important it is to let people know we love and appreciate them. Acknowledging blessings has been on my radar even more so after reading “Letters From The book made me think about my family and everything they mean to me. They are here for me through everything, and their love and support helps me surmount even the most daunting challenges. I hope to begin my own tradition of writing letters for them

this year. Oftentimes, it isn’t until we lose someone that we truly understand how much they mean to us. By then, it’s too late to tell them. I want to create a legacy for my children and their children so they know how much they mean to me. For my family and me, celebrating together and continuing our traditions are important parts of the holidays. Especially in the last several years, I’ve seen how our traditions can change and evolve with the seasons. Our daughter Danielle is in Boston, so she’ll travel to spend Thanksgiving with us this year. Our son recently got engaged, so we’re building new traditions as our family grows and enhancing our existing traditions. His fiancée is a sweetheart, and we are so excited to welcome her into our family. My wife and I are grateful to see our family grow. Last year, her family spent Thanksgiving with us, and we look forward to continuing that tradition this year and welcoming our son’s future in-laws into our family. We have deep gratitude for the blessings that growing our family brings.

In addition to Thanksgiving, Veterans Day is this month. I want to express my gratitude for our military and first responders. To all those who’ve served our country, thank you.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. As you sit around the table with the people you love most, or as you talk over the phone if they’re far away, make sure you tell them how much they mean to you.
