You might read a sign which states, "Speed Limit 25." That is very de tailed instruction. Again, you might see a sign which explains, "Drive Carefully: We Love Our Children!" This is only a general principle. It does not tell us exactly how fast we can drive. The Word of God is the same. As we are programmed by it, we can begin to have a life style and outlook that is permeated with the precepts of these prin ciples. This gives us the capacity to process the data from all sources. Young people frequently ask, "Does the Bible contain a full revel ation of God's will for us, giving a complete, comprehensive detailed definition?" Yes, we can readily accept at face value the under standing that the Word of God will equip us to know what the will of God is at any time in our lives. The Bible is a sufficient and primary revelation of the will of God. It can handle all of the areas and details of life. While it sounds rather elementary, it is extremely vital that we fully understand a most significant point. Anybody who wants to know the will of God must also know the Word of God. This is absolutely essential. Until we get into the Scriptures and the Scriptures get into us, we will have a continual struggle for the discov ery of the Lord's purpose for our daily existence. Always keep in mind that God is at work in this world to give us insight and data whereby we might discover His will. It is our heavenly Father's desire that we may con tinually glorify Him. Circumstances certainly enter into our knowing His will. We see this over and over again throughout the book of Acts and the growth of the Church
through hardships and persecu tions. The believers at first were gathered together in Jerusalem. They doubtless had a great time witnessing to their friends, but the will of God was that they should move out and share the message of Christ's love (Acts 1:8). Circumstances such as war, a strike at your company, ill health, the loss of financial reserves, or the transfer of business position, may enter into the picture of showing you God's will. As a believer, I am sure you can look back on your life as I can on mine, and see how such developments unmistakably took place. Circumstantial ev i dence can be a confirming token of knowing the will of God. Check out the things surrounding you to day to see what the Lord is trying to tell you through them. It should be greatly encouraging to every believer in Christ to real ize that no matter the outward cir cumstances, Scripture is eminently true. All things do work together for our good and God's glory (Ro mans 8:28). We must always test our experiences with the Bible. It can be very easy otherwise to mis interpret what may be taking place and thereby be led astray. In knowing the will of God for our lives, we should also not over look the practical area of personal counsel. When we talk with some one else we oftenjzan gain a better perspective of the situations facing us. There can be some excellent wisdom imparted, especially by those who are more mature in the faith. In the fourth chapter of Ephesians we are reminded that the body of Christ can be likened to the human body. As believers, we are related to other believers
