ALASKA MINERS IN ACTION
AMA members showed up in force in early October at the Better In Our Back Yard Expo in Minnesota. At the event, AMA Executive Director Deantha Skibinski joined fellow mining association leaders for a panel on “How State Mining Associations Can Work Together.” There also was a panel titled "Alaska: The Last Frontier of Resource Development" that featured Samantha Angaiak-Miller, Donlin Gold; John Shively, Pebble Partnership; Lorali Simon, Usibelli Coal Mine; and Rick Van Nieuwenhuyse, Contango Silver & Gold. In addition, Alaska Congressman Nick Begich traveled to Minnesota to represent Alaska alongside Congressman Pete Stauber. He and 15 other Alaskans really put our state’s mining industry in the spotlight! AMA would like to thank our hosts for inviting us to share our Alaska mining stories and give a monumental thanks to all of the Alaska miners who traveled in unity to support our industry!
