As a doctor, one cannot measure the making of money with success. If your mission is to just make money, you will always be disatisfied. What is your favorite part of being a doctor? I am blessed to be able to walk with people in the best and worst times in their lives. There are times that I hold their hand in the presence of glory when God arrives to take them home. Did you want to be a doctor at a young age? What inspired you to be a doctor? When I was in college, I wanted

to be an airforce pilot; however, it was discovered that my eyesite was not good enough. I majored in Chemistry and minored in English. I was encouraged to look into dentistry, but ultimately decided to go into medicine at the University of Alabama Medical School. I remember taking a gross anatomy class where I discovered that the human body was a lot more than just an accident. It was not an accident. The human body is a beautiful artform created by a divine force. It was when I graduated from Medical School my mother presented me with a picture I drew when I was in second grade. I didn’t remember the assignment that the teacher had given us, but I said, “When I am grown, I am a Doctor. How long do you have to go to school? What school did you attend? In order to go to medical school, you need a 4 year college degree. Once

Where and when were you born? October 22, 1957 in Atmore, Alabama. I have one brother and sister. Where did you go to school? Both my mother and father were teachers and we moved to Plantersville, Al where I attended Selma High School. What school activities did you like? I was a drum major and played the trumpet and french horn. What was your favorite subject? Math and I loved READING! As an avid reader, I read our encyclopedias whenever I had a chance. Back then there was no internet to research ideas or subjects that interested me. What was your family life like? I was basically a farmboy! We did not have a lot of money, in fact I remember waking up one Christmas morning when I was 8 years old to finding “nothing” under our Christmas tree. Did you do odd jobs as a kid?
