CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOR NOTES [Continued from page 148] You are my enemy because in your widely circulated articles you have dared to cast rude insults and corrupt inventions upon the sinless character of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Saviour. But I love you for His 4ake; and that is why I have come to Egypt. That is why I have welcomed you today instead of turning you back at the door. I would to God you might know the depth and power of the love in the life of Christ and in His cross!” The editor was taken aback by this time ly proof that Christ’s high code was not beyond man’s reach. He had no reply to make, but took up the books he had pur chased and bade Dr. Zwemer good-by. — The Expositor. LESSON COMMENTARY [Continued from page 143] God’s opinion of us, and we can find that in the Bible. This mirror and Bible remind me of Romans 12:2, which reads: “Be not con formed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.” We are not to be influenced by the unsaved people, but we are to be influenced by God and His Word. I am reminded of the time that Jacob first stopped at Bethel, as told in Genesis 28. Up to this time, he apparently had not thought much about God, but we read that he said: “Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.” Years later we find Jacob by the brook wrestling with one who at first was un known to him. It was the Lord who ap peared to him there in the form of a man. Jacob was never the same again. He was more concerned about what God thought of him than about what others might think. Boys and girls, it is more important that we should know God’s thoughts regarding us than it is that we should be pleasing to the world. We should spend less time with the mirror and more time with the Bible, God’s Word. Conferences at Stony Brook The Stony Brook Assembly, Stony Brook, Long Island, New York, announces eight conferences to be held there during the coming summer. On July 2, the Lutheran Young People’s Conference will begin its eighth annual session. On July 17, the Second Annual Young People’s Conference under the auspices of the American Bible Conference Association will begin. E. Schuyler English, Managing Editor of

Revelation, will direct the activities again this year. Under the same direction will be the Fourth Annual “Revelation” Gen eral Bible Conference during the week of August 7. The annual conference of the National Association of Youth Centers will begin on July 24. During the week be ginning July 31, the Thirteenth Annual In terdenominational Young People’s Confer ence will be held, Frank E. Gaebelein, Headmaster of the Stony Brook School, being one of the leaders. Arno C. Gaebe lein, Editor of Our Hope, is preparing an excellent program for the Prophetic Con ference, which begins its twenty-sixth sea son on August 14. The conference season will close with the Twenty-eighth Annual General Bible Conference, August 21 to 29. how does this shine out! Thus the praise of earth ascends to Him, owning His right ful rule: ‘Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth.’ ” By others it has been suggested that the mention of “babes and sucklings” in verse 2 may have been used by David in view of his own extreme youth as he faced the giant Goliath. But in the thought of the Holy Spirit the primary reference is doubt less to our Lord Himself, who in His first advent came down to earth as a babe and suckling and was “crucified through weak ness” (2 Cor. 13:14), but who in His sec-, ond coming will be manifested as the One to whom all power belongeth, in whom all strength is ordained, in whom all praise is perfected, and who will in due time “still the enemy and the avenger” (Psa. 8:2). In verses 3 to 8 the Holy Spirit points backward to the first man and forward to the Second Man. To Adam, God gave dominion over all the works of His hands (Gen. 1:26-28), but, alas! sin robbed man of his place of dominion and he became Satan’s slave. But God’s eternal purpose was thwarted. Three thousand years after the fall of man, the Spirit of God wrote through David, pointing to a time in the future when man should be restored to his place of dominion over the works of God. Then a thousand years later, in the Epistle THE MESSIANIC PSALMS [Continued from page 130]

Known The World Over The 132 boys enrolled a t Stony Brook this school year have come from 22 states (ranging from Maine to Montana, New York to Mississippi), 3 territories, and 10 foreign countries, including India, Africa, Egypt, Belgium, and BraziL

Many of the students from foreign countries are sons of missionaries. Their parents chose Stony Brook because they felt assured that their sons will be well cared for physically, mentally, and—most Important—spiritually. But Christian parents all over the world have chosen Stony Brook because

other parents have spoken so enthusiastic ally of the Christian testimony of the school, the personality of the masters, the small classes, the thorough preparation for college, the well regulated dormitory life, and varied sports and activities program under the guidance of the same Christian masters who teach the boys and supervise thoir dormitory life.

This school is worth investigating. Send for a catalogue or write the Headmaster about a friend whose boy should be educated under such Christian auspices. Flans are now being made for fall entrance. i
