• The post holder will be expected to deliver the allocated budget (£750k) within the University’s financial expectations. • The post holder will manage Horticultural Services portfolio with minimal supervision but will have specific responsibilities to manage and deliver services to the University campus on behalf of the Deputy Director, Systems & Operations. • The post holder will report to the Deputy Director, Systems & Operations on a regular basis, and produce reports for the Estates Committee and University Executive Board when required to do so. • The post holder plays an active part in various University Working Groups and Committees, appropriate to the role (Sustainability, Health and Safety etc.) • The post holder will operate within the guidance of the University Policies and regulations, ensuring Compliance with Statutory legislation such as Health and Safety.

• Considering alternative service delivery models to ensure that the service delivers long term best value to the University. • To promote and enhance the existing environment of all areas of the University campus, ensuring that holistic sustainability is considered in all areas of the maintenance and development of the landscape and grounds. This should include, but not be restricted to the need to respect indigenous and local species, the requirement to ensure ground water run-off and attenuation is considered and factored in to site development and maintenance, the need to respect and enhance the flora and fauna of the site, ensuring an ecological balance is maintained; to proactively suggest how the grounds can be developed in a more sustainable way. • To ensure that all developments relating to the grounds and landscape are aware of legal planning requirements and obligations in relation to TPOs’, ancient hedgerows, endangered species etc. plus any other restrictions that could affect the grounds programme, and so managed and protected accordingly.
