SMALL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT MEET JARROD ANDERSON: Black Belt Instructor and Co-owner of Gamblers Jiu-Jitsu & Kickboxing Club

Ashley Glasser-Konecky and Jarrod Anderson

What has been your biggest athletic achievement to date? Receiving my black belt after nine years of training from Professor Joao Faria.

Gamblers Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing Club in Palm Beach Gardens is a place to learn from the best while boosting your body, mind, and soul. In this month’s Small Business Spotlight, we are honored to feature Jarrod Anderson, head black belt instructor and co-owner of Gamblers. Our very own Ashley Glasser-Konecky, a student at Gamblers Jiu-Jitsu, interviewed Jarrod this month and here is what he had to say. What is your background in martial arts? I was always intrigued by the martial arts and was fortunate to have a father who trained in various styles of martial arts to teach me the basics of self-defense. Once UFC started to get popular, I became interested in learning Brazilian jiu-jitsu and started doing just that. What inspired you to start your own business/studio? I don’t come from the best past and jiu-jitsu changed my life. It taught me the importance of discipline, respect, humility, and perseverance. After realizing the benefits of jiu-jitsu, I wanted to share this amazing martial art with as many people as possible to make a difference in their lives. My mentor, brother, and friend, Mike Ciprianni, made it possible with Gamblers Jiu-Jitsu Club. What sets you apart from other trainers and studios? We have an open-minded approach to training and believe in bringing in the highest quality instructors to teach our students. We have had multiple world champions of jiu- jitsu, including Talita Alencar, Leo Santos, Joao Assis, Amanda Alequin, and Joao Faria, at our academy helping improve our students and instructors.

What has been your biggest challenge? Life is constantly challenging us. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs throughout my life, but jiu-jitsu taught me that it doesn’t matter what happens to you. It matters how you respond to what happens to you. Where do you see yourself and Gamblers in the future? Gamblers grows daily. Mike Ciprianni has a lot of big plans for our academy. I want to continue improving myself and my students through jiu-jitsu.
