Students who follow this degree programme study two languages, of which at least one (French or Spanish) must be at advanced level. You can also choose to learn German from beginner’s level, either in combination with advanced French or Spanish, or by itself. There is a possibility for students wishing to expand their range of languages to study introductory modules in Catalan, Italian and Portuguese. You will study both the theory and concepts behind translation and interpreting, and also practice computer-assisted translation, dialogue interpreting, as well as professional interpreting for the worlds of commerce, governance, health or law. To support your studies, we have PC labs equipped with the latest industry translation software, a new Televic conference interpreting suite, as well as excellent print and online library resources. Year 2 • Computer-Assisted Translation • Dialogue Interpreting • History of the English Language • Introduction to the Theory of Translation • Teaching Modern Foreign Languages to Young Learners • The Appropriate General Language Modules Year 3 During your third year, you will take advantage of the agreements we have in place with some of Europe’s most renowned translation schools. We currently have partners across Europe in cities such as Barcelona, Cologne, Valencia, etc.* We have a dedicated year abroad tutor to help you every step of the way in the organisation of this important year.
