ANCIENT HISTORY EGYPTOLOGY AND ANCIENT HISTORY SINGLETON PARK CAMPUS Ancient History explores the history, culture, society, and landscapes of the Greek and Roman worlds, giving you fresh insight into their impact on modern times. In addition, our flagship degree programme in Egyptology, alongside Ancient History also allows you to investigate the ancient links of Egyptian peoples with their neighbours in the Sudan, Libya, the Levant, and the broader Mediterranean world. Study across broad areas including society, art, architecture, archaeology, warfare and empire, gender, religion, politics, and economics, and have the opportunity to learn Ancient Greek or Latin.

Study in a research-intensive department with experts in Roman Italy, mainland Greece, Roman Syria, Ancient Cyprus, Ancient Egypt and the Ancient Near East, where you will gain an insight into the ancient world by studying specific themes, places, or periods of history. Learning to interpret and question a wide range of ancient sources, you will develop transferable presentation, writing, and problem- solving skills, which are highly valued by employers, as you analyse objects and materials relating to the past. You will be able to put what you have learned into practice: we offer a work placement course focused on museology training; teaching and volunteering opportunities related to work in heritage are also available. Benefit from our world-class on campus museum, The Egypt Centre, which boasts extensive holdings of antiquities from the Wellcome Collection.
