This practical course in English Literature with Creative Writing offers an intense adventure in reading which fosters creativity and critical awareness. Taught by experienced and widely published writers with established reputations, you will gain experience in many forms of writing for the public including: fiction, drama, screenwriting, poetry, and creative non-fiction.

You will learn a range of practical writing skills to equip you for a career as a writer. You will also study the history, traditions and theory of over 1,000 years of English literature from middle English texts to current works. You can study national and global literature including the medieval and Renaissance periods, Gothic fiction, 19th century literature and modern, contemporary and digital texts. We organise visits to national theatres, archives and museums and you will have opportunities to be put in contact with agents, publishers, editors and writers. You will have the opportunity to get involved in projects with the Dylan Thomas Centre and the National Theatre Wales as well as having the opportunity to spend a semester studying abroad.
