Board Council passed a motion to ask Pope Francis for his support. The Vatican Secre- tary of State replied in a letter containing a message from the Pope. “His Holiness Pope Francis sends warm greetings to you, your brother Bishops, the priests, staff and students as you celebrate the Eucharist simultaneously across the province during Catholic Education Week,” the letter said. Father Paul Nwaeze welcomed the arch- bishop, along with other church members, teachers and students. Several students were involved in the service, which included a school choir, several readings by students, and blessings of the different aspects of school life. Students brought forward items like a football helmet to represent sports, a pencil sketch to represent art, science and math instruments, and others. Most of the school’s students and tea- chers attended, along with many parents.

Mass was celebrated at Catholic schools across Ontario on the same day. The township had snowplows on the roads 125 times from November to March and removed snowbanks in the villages seven times. The evening shift worked 45 times. This year, the township hired two additional employees for evenings, which cut down their overtime expenses by $9316, Bour- gon said. About 4000 tonnes of salt were used, which is 500 more tonnes than the previous winter, for an additional cost of $41,000.
