newsroom@eap.on.ca V ANKLEEK H ILL “Biggest beer yet from Beau’s" we experimented with a double-mash tech- nique that brought out a bigmalt character in the beer. We also dry-hopped it, and aged it on oak staves. It’s not a cheap way to brew beer, but the results were worth it.”

The company says: “The limited-edition Screamin’ Beaver is not for the cautious beer drinker. It first breeches the palate with a shot of grapefruit, then gives way to nuanced oak and caramel flavours and warming alcohol mouth feel. The aroma is dominated by vanilla and pear. Complex andcontemplative, this extra-strongale (9.9 %abv.)ismeanttobesippedandsavoured.” BottlesofWildOats#3, Screamin’ Beaver will be available directly from the brewery.
“Big, bold and delicious,” the latest beer from Beau’s All Natural Brewing CompanyofVankleekHillis“challenging palates of local drinkers.” The oak-aged, big hoppy Screamin’ Beaver was released last week. Part of the limited-edition Wild Oats series, this specialty brew from Beau’s All Natural will once again be limited to 1,000 bottles. “Screamin’ Beaver is essentially an amped-up version of our spring seasonal, Beaver River,” explains head brewer MatthewO’Hara. “We made a version of it last year that was pretty tasty, but this time
Local beerdrinkers are likely tobe familiar with Beau’s spring seasonal that inspired the “double” version. The India Pale Ale (IPA) landed on LCBO shelves in March, where it has been warmly received. “It’s inspiring,” says brewery co-founder Steve Beauchesne. “Beau’s is selling every 600-ml. bottle of our BeaverRiver seasonalwe canbottle andpack up each week, and we’re barely keeping up. It makes us want to continue to create new beers and get themout there to people— the demand is so clearly there.”
newsroom@eap.on.ca F INCH Well decommissioning grants available decommissioning costs to a maximum of $1,000 per well, excluding taxes. Due to high demand, all applications will be added to a waiting list pending additional funding. All landowners in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, Prescott and Russell, rural por- tions of the City of Ottawa, and portions of Leeds and Grenville can apply. A site visit is required prior to initiating projects. Sylvia specified that funding is only for correctly closing down unused wells, not for upgrading. SouthNationConservationoffersagrant program to encourage landowners to correctlydecommissiontheirunusedwells, helping to avoid water supply contamination problems. Unused wells are a direct pipeline to aquifers, allowing for contaminated runoff to possibly enter the groundwater supply, notes the authority. Once a well is no longer needed, it becomes liability if left untended. Runoffmaycontainpesticides, fertilizers, livestock waste, bacteria, or chemicals. Abandonedwells are a safety threat and the remedy is to implement correct decommissioning practices. Administered by SNC, funding for the decommissioning program is provided by the Eastern Ontario Water Resources Committee and the SNCCleanWater Grant Program. Grants cover 100 per cent of Approved applicants must comply with specified Ministry of Environment (MOE) procedures for decommissioning wells; details of each procedure are to be documented on a Well Record by the contractorandsubmittedtoMOE.Workmust be completed by awell contractor licensed as class 1, 2, or 3 under the Ontario Water Resources Act.
