Une tradition estivale annuelle à Clarence-Rockland a battu tous les records en 2026 en matière de sub- ventions et de parrainages. Le Festival de Clarence-Rockland, une fête communautaire annuelle de plusieurs jours organisée au Parc Simon, a reçu plus de 90 000 dollars provenant de subventions locales et de partenariats avec des entreprises, dépassant ainsi le total de l’année dernière, qui s’élevait à 78 000 dollars. But residents should still take steps to keep cool as humidity conditions remain high and make even cooler temperatures seem warmer than usual. During high temperature and humidity conditions the risk of suffering heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke increase for everyone spending moderate to large amounts of time outside without taking adequate protec- tion measures. Seniors, infants and very young children, and people with some chronic health conditions like heart problems or asthma may be more at risk for heat-related illnesses. Residents should check local weather fore- casts and take precautions, including keeping air conditioners or fans turned on indoors
to help provide some cooling air conditions. Anyone who does not have air conditioning should check their municipal websites for the location of the nearest to make sure they are okay. 8IFUIFSPVUEPPSTPSJOEPPST ESJOLMPUTPG water or other cold liquids to remain hydrated. Un ancien conseiller municipal de Clarence-Rockland espère siéger à nouveau au conseil municipal. Michel Levert, qui s’était présenté pour la première fois et avait remporté le siège du quartier 7 de Clarence-Rockland lors des élections municipales de 2014 en battant de justesse le candidat sortant, a officiellement déposé sa candidature et brigue un nouveau mandat en tant que conseiller du quartier 7 (Hammond et Cheney). Ce quartier est actuellement représenté par Trevor Stewart, qui avait battu M. Levert lors des élections de 2022 pour un siège au conseil municipal de Clarence-Rockland. M. Stewart a annoncé en début d’année qu’il ne se représenterait pas, garantissant ainsi l’arrivée d’un nouveau représentant pour ce quartier cet automne. À l’heure où nous mettons sous presse, M. Levert est le seul candidat inscrit pour se présenter dans ce quartier. « Je souhaite poursuivre l’excellent travail accompli par M. pour enfants de l’est de l’Ontario (CHEO). L’événement de Rockland a per- mis de récolter plus de 650 dol- lars pour ce fonds de dotation. Les visiteurs ont eu l’occasion de rencontrer des premiers intervenants et de décou- vrir de près les voitures de patrouille de la PPO, les camions de pompiers et les ambulances. Les habitants ont ainsi pu rencontrer ceux qui servent leurs communautés et manipu- ler le matériel qu’ils utilisent au quotidien. La prochaine édition de «Touch a Truck» aura lieu à Casselman le 11 juillet au Casselman Metro, suivie d’événements à Embrun le 19 juillet et à Hawkesbury le 25 juillet. La Police provinciale de l’Ontario (PPO) a organisé le week-end der- nier à Rockland le premier des quatre événements organisés en l’honneur du sergent Eric Mueller. En collaboration avec les services d’urgence des Comtés-Unis de Prescott et Russell (CUPR), la PPO a organisé la deuxième édition annuelle de l’événe- ment «Touch a Truck» à la caserne des pompiers de Rockland le samedi 4 juillet et a contribué à collecter des fonds pour le Fonds de dotation à la mémoire du sergent Eric Mueller, qui soutient l’unité de soins intensifs néonatals du Centre hospitalier
