OPP AND SQ JOIN FORCES ON DRUG CASE, OVER 20 ARRESTED
SALLE DE RÉDACTION EAP nouvelles@eap.on.ca Le Détachement de Hawkesbury de la Police provinciale de l’Onta- rio (PPO) est à la recherche d’une personne d’intérêt impliquée dans un vol d’équipement de location dans une entreprise de Hawkesbury. Le 6 février dernier, le magasin de location a signalé le vol à la police, après que plusieurs articles n’aient pas été retournés. L’enquête a révélé qu’un homme a utilisé une fausse identité pour louer des articles d’une valeur UPUBMFEFQMVTEFøø*MTBHJT - sait entre autres d’une excavatrice, d’une direction à glissement, de scies à béton, d’une plaque vibrante et d’un appareil de chauffage. La personne recherchée est décrite DPNNFÊUBOUVOIPNNFEFOWJSPO m, âgé de 30 à 40 ans, portant une barbe. Il parle français et anglais et portait une veste noire de type construc- tion avec un chandail à capuchon gris en dessous. Son véhicule est une camionnette noire Dodge Ram, Heavy Duty avec cabine double et roues arrière doubles, tirant une remorque à plateau. -FGÊWSJFS MFORVËUFBBNFOÊMB Sûreté du Québec (SQ) à exécuter un mandat de perquisition à Saint-Roch-de- l’Achigan, Québec, avec l’aide de l’Unité des crimes de la PPO de Hawkesbury. Les recherches ont permis de retrouver cinq excavatrices volées, dont l’exca- vatrice Kubota volée à Hawkesbury, QPVSVOFWBMFVSUPUBMFEFøø Les quatre autres excavatrices ont été louées dans d’autres magasins au Québec. Les autres objets volés à Hawkesbury sont toujours portés disparus. Drugs and money During the raids police seized more than 3000 methamphetamine tablets, and more than half a kilogram of cocaine. They also found and seized 16 fentanyl patches, along with a variety of other drugs and equipment used in drug trafficking. A large amount of money, in both Canadian and U.S. currency, was seized, along with several cell phones, three firearms with ammunition at least one set of brass knuckles and other prohibited weapons and devices, and five vehicles. The joint police investigation continues and more charges are pending.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) joined forces on Project Amberjack, breaking up a drug-trafficking operation in Hawkesbury and Grenville and resulting in the arrest of 20 people on a variety of charges. “The individuals arrested are the ones putting illegal and dangerous drugs into the hands of our children, our neighbours and others in your community,“ stated OPP Superintendent Bryan MacKillop. The joint investigation on drug network trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine, codenamed Amberjack, began last summer and occupied police forces on both sides of the Ottawa River for eight months. The multiple raids involved several OPP members and SQ units. Police arrested 20 people and seized a mixture of various drugs, weapons, and other items. Drug charges Facing charges of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence are Martin Ladouceur, 30, of Hawkesbury, Denis Tassé, 34, of Lachute, Corey Viger, 30, of Deux-Montagnes. Char- ged with cocaine trafficking are Marc-André Proulx, 24, Michel Menard, 59, Salah Sibera, 52, Sylvain Cater, 48, all of Hawkesbury, Daniel Brown, 44, of Vankleek Hill, Gilles DeGrobois, 36 and Ozzy Campbell, 28, both of Grenville. The Hawkesbury Detachment of the OPP is in search of a person of interest involved in the theft of rental equipment, of a value of more than 270 000 $, from a local business in Hawkesbury. The person of interest is described as a male, approximately 5’11”, between the age of 30 and 40 years old with a full beard. He is French and English speaking and was wearing a black construction type jacket with a grey hoodie underneath.
