CASE STUDY
FACT: By adding a shelter , First Baptist Church of Venice was able to create a scenic outdoor gathering space for lakefront worship .
First Baptist of Venice was established in 1934. Their earliest church members founded a rich heritage of faith as they set out to glorify God and bring souls to Him through ministry in Venice, Fla. With an established and bustling downtown location, they decided to expand and opened a second location called The Lakefront. “The lakefront property is very near and dear to my heart,” Senior Pastor Tom Hodge said. “When Tassie and I first toured the area in 1992 as a prospective new pastor, we both felt the whispering of the Holy Spirit that this specific land would some day become part of First Baptist.” Our SRP Certified Partner ARC Florida worked with the church to install a shelter at their new waterfront property.
Their 50-foot All-Steel Hexagonal Duo-Top Shelter features great design details. It has Lattice and Cupola, which features a custom cross. The shelter provides members of the church and community with a place to gather for fellowship and worship. On Sunday mornings, they offer casual modern worship at the shelter. Families are able to sit together and dress casual. Along the pavilion area are winding trails that hug the lakefront. It’s perfect for walks, quiet prayer, and spritual contemplation. “The Lakefront provides a refreshing new retreat for spiritual nourishment and recreation for our members and community alike,” Pastor Tom said.
