ATTRIBUTES
ESSENTIAL Educated to degree level with a construction related chartered professional qualification or equivalent experience.
ADVANTAGEOUS Post graduate qualification in construction I project management or similar discipline.
Education/ Qualifications
General management qualifications.
Membership of a Project Management body.
Experience (Paid and Unpaid)
Experience in the management of new and refurbishment projects from £100k to over £15m construction value. Proven experience of managing all aspects of building and consultancy contracts. Experience of managing in-house staff and contract personnel. Strong experience in the preparation and monitoring of risk registers and project programmes. The preparation of regular project reports and their presentation to committees The successful delivery of major design and build projects when undertaking the role of PM and EA. Financial. IT and project planning systems. Knowledge of property and construction related legislation and contract law. The ability to respond to change in a live construction environment and to make clear considered decisions when under pressure. To identify and successfully resolve conflict within teams. An ability to lead and motivate in-house and external teams. Strong written and interpersonal skills and to work at all levels within and outside the University. Clear strategic thinking. Ability to understand and promote the role of the Estates Department Ability to successfully negotiate in situations of dispute. A wide range of understanding of appropriate legislation related to development.
Working on projects in a campus environment. The management of multiple projects as part of a programme strategy. The planning and management of major moves. Working on projects to achieve low CO2 emissions and to be highly sustainable.
Knowledge of the planning process. A sound knowledge of current environment and sustainability issues. Knowledge and understanding of BIM and softlandings in the context of the University's projects.
