PLANTAGENET | So far Mayor Jean-Yves Lalonde is going unchallenged as mayor of Alfred-Plantagenet Township and the October election may see little need for many polling officials to deal with the rest of the council candidate ballots. Lalonde remains the sole registered can- didate for the mayor’s seat as of mid-July. While he looks forward to another term as the township’s mayor, Lalonde is not ruling out the chance of a last-minute challenger filing papers within the next month or two. “Everyone has until Sept. 12,”Lalonde said during a recent interview. “But I’m quite happy to put forth another four years to help bring our township forward for our residents. I’ve got the time. I’ve got the con- fidence.” Among the councillor candidates con- firmed so far, incumbent René Beaulne and newcomer Jean-Pierre Cadieux are regis-
