The Gloucester Branch of the NAACP invites the community to three upcoming events we are hosting.
Health Resource Fair at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church (6470 Main St, Gloucester) on August 9, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sentara will be doing PSA testing (prostate) and will have their mobile mammogram onsite. Reservations required for PSA and Mammogram. Sign up on our website. Biennial Local and Regional Candidate Forum at the T.C. Walker Education Center Auditorium on September 11, 2025, at 6 p.m. The College and Career Resource Fair is scheduled for October 9, 2025, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Gloucester High School. Gloucester Farmers Market The Gloucester Farmers Market will continue each second Saturday through the months of August, September and October. The market, which runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on those days, is held on the grounds of historic Ware Episcopal Church at 7825 John Clayton Memorial Highway. The market has something for the whole family with over 50 venders providing local fresh produce, food trucks, and a wide variety of arts and crafts in a beautiful setting. Abingdon Ruritan Club The Abingdon Ruritan Club invites you to get to know us. Our Club is located in the Bena area of Gloucester County. The club is a vibrant, vigorous, and robust group of men and women who work together to continue the vision of our founders to better our community. We join together to meet community needs while embracing the Ruritan Motto of Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service. We conduct fundraising activities to provide financial assistance to nonprofit charities and help individuals on an emergency basis. Membership in the Abingdon Ruritan Club is by invitation. We welcome anyone who is interested in working and giving time to our community service projects to either speak with one of our members by calling 804-815-2593, or take a tour of our webpage: Abingdonruritanclub.com. Gloucester Democratic Committee Reserve your tickets now for the Annual Gloucester Democrats Seafood Dinner! Our event is from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 at the Abingdon Ruritan Club, located at 8784 Guinea Road in Hayes. Tickets will not be available at the door! Come enjoy delicious seafood and sides catered by Shelly Williams of Mathews. Participate in a Silent Auction, or enjoy music and fellowship. Meet and hear from Elaine Walters, Dr. Mark Downey, and other notable dignitaries. The Second Eldridge N. Cook Impact Award will be presented to an individual in our community who improves the lives of Virginians. This person must exemplify Mr. Cook’s ideals, actions, and results.
