Make a difference as a 4-H Volunteer! Are you excited about empowering the next generation and making a difference in your community? Join the 4-H family as a volunteer and help ignite the passions of young people to lead, learn, and thrive! 4-H is America’s largest youth development organization, and we’re reaching youth through incredible hands-on projects in areas like STEM, agriculture, healthy living, civic engagement, and the arts. As a volunteer, you’ll be at the heart of 4-H: leading clubs, teaching workshops, mentoring youth, and supporting fantastic events. Whether you can spare an hour a week or lend a hand during special events, there’s an amazing spot for you in 4-H! No experience? No problem. All you need is a willingness to learn and a big heart to help young people grow. Our volunteers receive training, resources, and continuous support from dedicated local 4-H staff. We’re especially on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to help with: A Community Club: Join youth engaging in community service. We have many engaging clubs that are set to continue into the next 4-H year, and we are also hoping to expand club offerings! Here are some opportunities for students to get involved: Gloucester County Cloverbuds: Open to youth ages 5-8. Explore the treasures of 4-H through crafts, nature, and community service projects. Email Jackie Jefferis, jefferis@vt.edu for information. Gloucester Bayriders Horse Club: Open to youth ages 9- 18. Learn all about horses, participate in horse educational contests and riding events. Gloucester horse clubs have participated in Hippology, Horse Bowl, Horse Judging, Presentation contests, Public Speaking, and District and State Horse Shows (as well as Southern Regionals and Eastern Nationals). They learn citizenship, leadership, and life skills along the way. Gloucester 4-H Animal Science Club: Open to youth 9- 18 as well as Cloverbud siblings. This club currently has youth interested in showing rabbits, sheep and hogs, but they all engage in 4-H projects to learn more about the agricultural industry. Our 4-H members are showing at the State Fair of Virginia! Come out and meet them. 4-H Clubs continuing in 2025-2026:
