January 2024 Oracle

There is a lot of stitchin ’ goin ’ on in the West Room. We quilt and sew for a variety of reasons. Quilting and sewing is an art form to show our creativity, creating brings joy. We also feel joy through the bond we share with each other within our sewing group. What do we do with it once it ’ s finished? We can keep it for ourselves, gift it to a friend or family member, or donate it. We would like to invite you to join us in the West Room Monday through Sunday from 8AM to 5PM if only for a look see. Each year we create beautiful quilts to be raffled off at the Ladies Luncheon held this year on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The ORPS Quilting and Sewing group has adopted the Shelter From The Storm, the Coachella Valley ’ s only domestic violence shelter, as a focused charity. Your support by purchasing raffle tickets helps us purchase the materials needed to make these quilts. Due to the generosity of the ORPS community we were able to send the Shelter From The Storm approximately $10,000 last season. Way to go ORPS! The Christmas donations have been delivered to The Shelter From The Storm. A big thank you to the ORPS Community for helping these families feel some sort of normalcy during very difficult times. Again, way to go ORPS! This year's charity raffle quilts are:

HAPPY NEW YEAR from the A&A team! We hope you had a great holiday, and we are looking forward to the new year. If you see what looks like a golf car parade with a lot of owners in blue vests fear not – it is the A&A Committee and our Members - in - Training ready to work with you to make your lot improvement project as easy and seamless as possible. While four or more of us arriving at one time may look intimidating, our veterans are training new members for the Committee. There is a lot to learn, and hands - on training is the best way to learn the ropes. By having a quorum on your lot in most cases we are able to approve the Permit at the time of our visit. This approach saves us time and allows you to get your project started as quickly as possible. I should also mention that we are still in the process of “ finalizing ” permits that were completed over the last 12 months so you may see the team reviewing the work so we can sign off and close the permit. As Owners it is our responsibility to be familiar with the rules and regulations that can be found on orps.com. These rules and regulations are in place to ensure a safe environment and that our lots can reflect our individual tastes while maintaining an acceptable aesthetics and architecture across the Resort. We are a unique blend of individuals that all desire a Resort we can be proud of. If you are contemplating any maintenance or improvements to your lot the first step is to determine if you need a permit before starting any work on your lot. NO WORK CAN START PRIOR TO A&A COMMITTEE APPROVAL OF YOUR PERMIT . Please contact Julia, our Compliance Officer, for assistance with your Permit application or to request a consultation with members of the A&A Committee. As a reminder if you are moving an existing trailer, stairs or doghouse within the Resort you may need a Permit depending on the circumstances. Please contact Julia and she can provide guidance for your specific situation. Lastly the first of the year is a good time to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors. And I would encourage every Owner to have at least one quality fire extinguisher readily available. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us. Thanks to everyone for your efforts to keep ORPS the beautiful Resort we all love and enjoy!
