Priorities of Faculty Senate for AY26-27

In addition to our regular work of managing curriculum, participating in academic policy revisions, maintaining the Faculty Code, facilitating feedback to support evaluation of administrators, managing the general education program, and advocating for issues impacting faculty and the academic integrity of the institution, the Faculty Senate is engaged in several projects this year. We will be continuing the process of general education program revisions, exploring possible three-year degree options, considering significant revision to the student evaluation of instruction instrument, working to streamline curriculum processes, and much more. This may involve the establishment of an ad-hoc committee to work alongside the General Education Committee this year to facilitate a general education revision process. The process must involve broad faculty consultation as decisions about which revisions to move forward are finalized and then will require a process to populate the general education framework with courses. Once we have a timeline and clear process determined, we will share that update with the Board.

Three-Year Degree

Last academic year, a Cat team produced a report about how a three-year degree could be implemented at CWU. They did not explore whether CWU should pursue a three-year degree as that was outside of their scope. Given the curricular and academic policy implications of establishing a new degree type, the next phase moved to the Faculty
