Paroles officielles de l’« Ô Canada! »
« Ô Canada! » a été proclamé comme hymne national le 1er juillet 1980, un siècle après avoir été chanté pour la première fois en 1880. La musique est l’œuvre de Calixa Lavallée, célèbre compositeur, et les paroles françaises sont de sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier. Au fur et à mesure que la popularité de la chanson s’est accrue au cours des années, plusieurs versions anglaises ont été écrites. La version anglaise officielle est basée sur celle composée en 1908 par le juge Robert StanleyWeir. La version française est restée la même depuis 1880.
