4. Every incident requires an Incident Action Plan (IAP). Typically the IAP is verbal for the first operational period. If the incident continues past the first operational period, especially if it appears the incident will become large or complex, the IAP must be written. ICS form 202 with attachments is used for this purpose. B. Administration: Emergency Actions 1. Upon notification of an actual or anticipated event, members of the administration who are assigned responsibilities in the Basic Plan should refer to their specific checklist and begin appropriate actions. 2. Required actions will vary widely depending on the nature, scope and timing of the situation, but can be summarized as follows: a. Communicate with designated staff members b. Determine the impact or potential impact of the event on the administration member’s area of responsibility, and on the university as a whole c. Advise subordinates of the situation, provide clear instructions, and define immediate actions and expectations for them d. Coordinate actions within the normal university organization structure, if possible e. Be available for assignment to emergency duties and adjust personal schedules accordingly C. Incident Command Staff: Emergency Actions 1. The Chief of Police or designee activates the Incident Command System. Upon notification of an actual or anticipated event, ICS staff members should report to the designated command post or to the EOC. 2. Initial actions may be summarized as follows: a. Receive a staff assignment and an initial briefing b. Review the appropriate job responsibilities checklist c. Arrange for necessary workspace, materials, telephones and other communications, and staffing. Brief assigned staff and arrange for their workspace d. Be prepared to adjust personal schedules to accommodate the assigned shift schedule e. Begin and maintain operational and communications security as appropriate
