Sober Road Whether you stay on Drinking Alley or switch to the Sober Road you need to think about where those paths will lead you. Fast forward your life 5 years—where will you be? These two routes have quite different destinations. Drinking Alley will keep you stuck, increase your anxiety and dependence and sap your motivation. Your life will not evolve, it will just be a succession of Groundhog Days—same day over and over! As people become more dependent on alcohol their world begins to shrink, until the only thing that interests them is—drinking. Whereas the Sober Road will be difficult at first but then your mental and physical health will improve and your zest for life will return. You will be full of energy and creativity. You’ll begin to experience the unexpected joy of being sober. Sobriety is an adventure and your life will open up in ways you cannot even imagine. Sober Road… or Drinking Alley? Are you at a crossroads in your life?
Some of the choices we make in life can change the trajectory of our future. If you know you’ve been drinking too much for years and have tried (and failed) to cut down numerous times then you may find yourself at a major crossroad in your life.
Are you going to take the easiest choice and keep travelling down Drinking Alley?
Or will you take the hard choice and choose the Sober Road?
In fact both of those choices are difficult—it’s a matter of “choosing your hard”. Carry on drinking and you’ll become more dependent and your mental and physical health will suffer—that’s hard. Or choose the Sober Road and that’s pretty hard for the first few months but then your health will improve, your happiness will increase and your life will begin to evolve in the most extraordinary ways.
