Charity news

Charitable deeds by activpayroll CHARITY HAS always been high on the agenda of activepayroll, the global payroll and tax compliance specialists headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland. Though the company had planned for 2020 to be another year of charitable fundraising, plans were put on hold when the pandemic hit; recently, however, activpayroll has

announced help and support to deserving charities. The company’s annual budget of £16,000 granted to its social committee, activ-in-action, for delivering company events – such as quiz nights, Christmas parties – was unused during 2020. Various ideas for using this money were considered, but the activ-in-action team decided that it should be evenly donated to activpayroll’s chosen charities for 2020: Maggie’s, Friends of Anchor, Charlie House, and Support in Mind Scotland. It is hoped the funds will help the charities continue supporting those who really need it during these unprecedented and challenging times. Alison Sellar, chief executive officer of activpayroll, commented: “With charities across the country working hard to ensure they stay afloat during these turbulent times, it is more important than ever that as a company we support them in any way we can. I am always immensely proud of all the charitable work that goes on across the business, especially the team’s decision to donate the annual social budget to charity.” The company is also providing a complimentary payroll services to the ARCHIE Foundation, enabling the charity to use the money saved towards helping the near-200,000 patients it supports every year. The ARCHIE Foundation provides a wide range of support and services for young patients and their families at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, Tayside Children’s Hospital and Highland Children’s Unit. The ARCHIE Foundation also encompasses Friends of the Neonatal Unit and Grampian Child Bereavement Network. David Downie, director of Business Services at ARCHIE, said: “We are delighted that activpayroll have kindly offered to partner up with us to provide complimentary payroll services to the ARCHIE Foundation.”
