Quand l’une audition est réduite, le cerveau ne reçoit plus toutes les informations acoustiques. Le cerveau pratique moins à distinguer entre les sons. Les appareils auditifs tentent de restimuler le cerveau afin de préserver ces fonctions normales. Le plus de temps qu’une personne malentendante passe sans les appareils auditifs, le plus la compréhension peut diminuer. If you don’t use it, you lose it!! With reduced hearing, the brain is not receiving speech information from the ear as it should. This means little or no practice distin- guishing between sounds. Hearing aids help stimulate the brain to preserve these functions. The longer a hearing loss goes without a hearing aid, the higher the chances that speech understanding will also degrade.
