OPP wants more women recruits

The OPP launches OPP Bound 2013, a four-day recruitment camp at the Provincial Police Academy in Orillia. The program runs from July 6 to 9 and the focus is on intro- ducing potential qualified candidates to possible careers with the OPP. This year’s recruitment drive program has space for 50 participants. During their stay

at the Academy they will learn about OPP history and traditions, and take part in men- toring sessions with female OPP officers who will share their experiences in police work. The 50 participants experience for a short time the actual day-to-day life of an OPP recruit at the Academy, including the physical training, fitness drills, and practical

exercises in patrol car driving and maneu- vers and use of other standard police gear. Application deadline for one of the 50 spaces at this year’s recruitment camp is April 12. Interested applicants can either phone toll-free to 1-877-677-4473 or go online to www.opp.ca for more information and to register.
