Sergio Romero’s journey throughout his academic and professional career has been heavily influenced by industry and the philosophy of continuous improvement or, what the Japanese refer to as, “Kaizen”. He believes that our current world can reach a sustainable and regenerative existence through small changes that result in large positive impacts. Sergio is passionate about never becoming complacent and is constantly pushing for individuals and organizations to always seek their next opportunity, big or small, in order to do better and to be better. Prior to joining the UWSP Ed.D. program, Sergio completed his B.S. at UW- Platteville and, shortly after, he joined their online M.S. program. Sergio spent a large portion of his time contributing to and working for the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs while on the UWP campus, which gave him many opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. Fortunately, he was able to continue his work with this group during his time as an online master’s student through the Student Advisory Board as a way to further his impact on the university that began this journey for him. While education seems quite different from his previous studies, joining the workforce made Sergio realize how fundamental training and education are to both an organization’s and an individual’s success. He hopes to blend his experience in adult learning and change management with his newly developed passion for sustainability in order to have a positive impact on the global landscape that we all contribute to in one way or another.
