Cardiff Registration District

The Cardiff Registration Service is situated in City Hall, Cathays Park, Cardiff. With an exterior carved from Portland stone and built in the Renaissance style, City Hall was opened in 1906, a year after Cardiff was granted city status. It is the centrepiece of one of the finest civic centres in the UK in an area of prestigious buildings, gardens and broad avenues.

The smaller of the two rooms is the St Dwynwen’s Room, which is beautifully decorated and offers a simple ceremony, classical music, a small aisle and seating for up to 10 guests. We regret it is not possible to write your own vows for a ceremony in this room. However, if you would like to have more guests, a choice of vows, music and readings, we have the St. David’s Room with its elegant panelled walls, chandeliers, seating for up to 50 guests, an aisle for a grand entrance and plenty of light from the magnificent windows. Please remember that any readings and music must be non-religious. We regret it is not possible to write your own vows for a ceremony in this room.

Here at Cardiff Register Office we have a choice of ceremony rooms available for the celebration of marriages and civil partnerships.

For a simple ceremony containing just the legal vows and exchange of rings witnessed by 2 guests, you can choose the Register Office Room. This ceremony is available Mondays to Thursdays at 10am and 10:30am.

We also offer the St David’s Suite which is made up of 2 beautiful ceremony rooms at the front of City Hall overlooking the lawns.
