Approved premises for civil marriages and civil partnerships Cardiff is one of the busiest districts in England and Wales for ceremonies in approved premises and we have nearly 50 wonderful venues across the City of Cardiff that are licensed for the celebration of civil marriages, civil partnerships and other occasions. These range from country hotels to historic castles, stadiums to smaller more intimate boutique venues. For information on the venues available that you could choose to have your ceremony, please browse through our list of approved venues on our website www.cardiffregisteroffice.co.uk. Ceremonies at approved premises can take place on most days of the year* and at any time of day with the agreement of the venue and the registration service. You must first make

a booking with the venue of your choice and then confirm with us that registration officers will be available on that date and time. It is essential that you agree the date and time of the ceremony with both the venue and the register office before making any other arrangements. Please note that a non-refundable deposit will be required for booking the registration officers and that a different fee structure may apply to ceremonies taking place outside normal working hours.

A provisional booking may be made by telephone or in person at the register office. For all bookings at approved premises, a non-refundable deposit is required and we will confirm the amount at the time of booking. For bookings for the register office ceremony rooms (Register Office Room, St Dwynwen’s Room and St David’s Room), full payment may be required at the time of booking. Further details and details of our current fees are on our website www.cardiffregisteroffice.co.uk. In all cases you will need to enter your legal notices of marriage or civil partnership at the appropriate time to confirm your booking. Full details about this process are in the following section and guidance on the particular requirements for you and your partner will be given when you make your booking.

Making a Booking It is always advisable to book your ceremony as soon as you can. This applies to whether you are having your ceremony in one of the register office ceremony rooms, or in one of our approved premises. We operate a provisional booking system which will allow you to book your ceremony as far ahead as you wish, giving you plenty of time to make other arrangements for your special day.
