CASE STUDY

The Business Case Version 1.0 work projected an annual savings of $4.4 million and a 3.1-year payback. The Empire State Building’s Version 2.0 energy efficiency selected measures project to deliver a positive NPV of $4.35 million and a payback period of six years.

ENERGY SAVINGS The Empire State Building is on track to achieve our energy reduction goal by 2030. The graph to the right displays the Empire State Building’s energy reduction progress as of December 31, 2025. We have reduced energy by 49% since 2007. 9 EMISSIONS REDUCTION The graph to the right displays the Empire State Building’s carbon emissions reduction progress as of December 31, 2025. We have reduced carbon emissions by 57% since 2007. The building is expected to meet its LL97 2030 Limit, LL97 2035 Limit, and 80x30 target. 9
