One Sandwich at a Time ESRT partnered with One Sandwich at a Time, a grassroots nonprofit NYC-based organization that has helped feed over 100,000 New Yorkers with their simple mission to drive change with just one sandwich. ESRT colleagues made over 1,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in our breakroom that were immediately donated and distributed to City Harvest. Bottomless Closet The Bottomless Closet experience empowers women to feel confident and prepared to tackle interviews, start new jobs, and begin their journeys to self-sufficiency. ESRT provided support for resumé and interview preparation programs as well as collected donations of clothing, shoes, bags, and purses that can be used for interviews and professional roles.
Washington Square Park Conservancy ESRT joined forces with the Washington Square Park Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that works alongside local government and community leaders to keep Washington Square Park clean, safe, vibrant, and historically rich through advocacy and volunteer efforts. Colleagues collected litter and maintained the park, to support a clean, open space for New Yorkers to enjoy. Blood Drives Annually, we partner with the New York Blood Center to host multiple on-site blood drive events for colleagues and tenants who can donate. This year, our colleagues donated enough blood to potentially save at least 21 lives.
University Settlement ESRT hosted two separate groups of students from various New York City high schools at the Empire State Building for an interactive career panel with University Settlement, a historic NYC nonprofit that offers a full range of support from early childhood education and youth development to older adult programs, housing protection, art programs, and mental health care for all. In addition, ESRT hosted Technology Workshops with the elderly to offer personal education on various technologies and devices and to answer any technology-related questions. We donated laptops to those who did not have their own and trained them on how to use them to communicate with family members on Zoom and other useful capabilities.
