This Is for You

Because You Are One of Our Best Customers

MANAGERS Store Manager: David Rosario

Welcome to the third edition of our newsletter. First, please let me say thank you for all the business that you give our store. I would also like to thank those of you who took the time to email me with great feedback about our store and such nice comments about the people who work for us. Your comments are greatly appreciated. This article is all about you. We created this newsletter to help you save money and eat even better. We have many different programs for our customers, and we want you to know about them! Check out just a few of the ways we can help you get the most from our store. Money-Saving Coupons Inside This Newsletter This newsletter contains money-saving coupons. Please enjoy them at your convenience over the next three weeks. We are giving you these coupons because you are such a terrific customer. Free and Discounted Groceries Are you getting the most out of our points program? Remember that you earn points every time you shop in our store. You can then redeem your points for free and discounted groceries at checkout. You can also redeem your points for free gift cards from some of your favorite stores or gas cards for your car. For example, we have shoppers who have never paid for milk, because that's how they choose to use their points. Any

member of our staff can show you all the groceries and other items you can get with your points. Brad's and Greenway Organic and Natural Food If you shop for organic and natural food, consider purchasing the Brad's or Greenway line of products. These two brands are top-quality natural and organic lines with many different items, including milk, poultry, and peanut butter, just to name a few. Because there are no nationwide advertising costs associated with these brands, the costs are lower, and we pass the savings on to you. They are both a great way to purchase organic and natural food at affordable prices. The Foodtown Brand The Foodtown brand is terrific, and it will always save you money. If you can tell the difference between our brand and the national brand, we will give you your money back — no questions asked. Freshtown Coffee If you are a coffee drinker, you have got to try our Freshtown Coffee. There are eight varieties, and it's freshly roasted for us as we order it. The roasting house is in Mount Vernon, New York, and operated by a local, family-run business. The regular price is $5.99 for a 10-ounce bag, and it's often on sale for even less. It's the best coffee on the shelf, and it's also the lowest-priced coffee on the shelf. Rancher's Legend Beef Our Rancher’s Legend Steaks are tender and delicious, and they're only available at Foodtown and Freshtown. Without giving away too many of the details, only certain beef meets our standards for our Rancher's Legend Program. It’s simply

Robert Deveaugh joined Foodtown about three years ago and has been a total game-changer for us since he hit the floor. He knows more about fruits and vegetables than anyone out there. His engaging personality, willingness to do the necessary tasks, and incredible knowledge make him an invaluable asset to our company. With his 40 years of experience, Robert is a rarity in this industry, and we’re lucky to have him on our team in our Croton Store. The biggest trend he sees right now is a rapid increase in demand for organic foods. “Years ago, organic food was hardly grown at all. Now it’s gaining more popularity with the movement of healthy eating.” If you ask him, this movement isn’t going to slow down. “I’ve seen trends come and go, and organic is tremendous. Growers are growing more. There’s more quantity, and that means prices are going down. We have some organic items that are cheaper than nonorganic.” He’s always increasing Foodtown's selection to meet the needs of our customers and stay ahead of the game. “We beat our competition. We have over 120 organic items.” Robert’s expertise and competence is only outdone by his resourcefulness. He’s extremely proud of Foodtown’s relationship with local growers. “We can get whatever the customer needs. We go straight to local farmers. We’ll get homegrown tomatoes straight from a local farm in the summer.” Our Produce Rock Star Robert Deveaugh Changes the Way Foodtown Does Organic

better beef, and it's far more tender than what’s sold in other supermarkets. Finally, it’s competitively priced, so you are getting great steaks at affordable prices. Nutrition Shelf Labels Before we print our shelf labels, we run them through a nutrition company. Then they are printed with the nutrition information for that particular item, such as gluten-free, heart- healthy, or low-sugar. This is a terrific way for you to find what you need in our store and stay healthy at the same time. This is not available in many other stores. Cal Organic Vegetables Cal Organic is a top organic vegetable grower in the United States. We have aligned with them through our supplier, and you are going to see more and more of this terrific brand of quality organic vegetables when you shop in our store. Our Weekly Flyer Last but not least, please shop our weekly flyer . The best way to get the flyer is through our website. You can even build shopping lists right from the flyer. This is a terrific way to save even more money. So many people shop in our store without taking a look through the flyer, and they are missing out on a lot of savings. Please don't let this be you. Take a few minutes every week to go online and see what’s on sale. Like anything else, it’s good to review all the ways you can save money and eat even better with Foodtown. There are a lot of hardworking team members making sure all these programs are in place for you, and we want to make sure you know about all of them. I hope this was helpful, and I hope that you will give us some feedback about the newsletter, our store, and our hardworking team members. Please email me directly, and I will pass it on to the team.

We’re extremely proud and humbled that Robert recognizes Foodtown’s

community efforts, too. “These are great people to work for. It’s not just about making money; it’s about

taking care of the community. It’s not just punching the clock.” He’s most happy to have gained a newfound appreciation for his craft. “I’m excited to work again. We took pride in what we did 30 years ago, but we lost that. I take pride in what I do at Foodtown.” We are honored to have incredible employees like Robert, and we hope you take great pride

Sincerely,

–Noah Katz Co-President Noahkatz@psksupermarkets.com

I am definitely a tech guy. I love my apps and my technology. I’m not first in line at Apple to get the new iPhone, but I am certainly not the last. I enjoy trying new apps and software to help the company and keep me as productive as possible. For example, we have state-of-the-art software that we use for our company to help pay all of our team members every week. It’s called Dayforce HCM, and it allows our team members to view their pay and time off. We’ve never missed a payroll on Friday, and this technology helps make that happen. My Favorite Apps

There is just so much to do these days and there are so many distractions keeping us from being productive. You have to be very careful about the apps you put on your phone. People often ask me what some of my favorite apps are to keep me focused and productive. So, I will share a few of them here with you. Be A Winner With WinStreak Studies have shown that we don’t give ourselves enough credit for the things we do. People often focus on what they still need to get done, rather than what they already accomplished. This leaves you with a sense of unfulfillment. Instead, you should give yourself credit for your “wins” every day. My business coach, Dan Sullivan, created a free app called WinStreak. It’s simple: you open the app every night and give yourself credit for at least 3 wins from that day. After a week of doing this, you won’t believe all the things you accomplished. You actually feel better, because you feel like a winner. Sullivan also noted that this is a tremendous habit to share with your kids. They are getting a lot of things done also, so turn them into “WinStreak Winners” by helping them enter their victories each day. Stay Productive And Organized With Trello Trello should put me on their payroll, because that’s how many people I have told about this incredible organizational tool. There are endless YouTube videos on how to use Trello, but here is an explanation in a single paragraph. Think of a Trello board as a bulletin board on your wall. Lists of different topics are on the board. Then, in each list, there are individual index cards called “Trello cards.” Each card is a to-do item. So you can create a list entitled “To-Do Items at Home,” “To-Do Items at Work,” “Books I Want to Read,” “Errands,” or whatever else you like. Then, once you have your lists set up, start adding Trello cards (to-do items) in each list. Here’s the most important thing about a Trello board: Remember to add a list called “Completed Items.” When an item is completed, you move the Trello card (by clicking and dragging it) right over to the “Completed Items” list. As your completed list grows and grows, you feel more and more confident about all the things you

are accomplishing. Last, but not least, you can click on any Trello card and see the back of it. Here, you can add attachments, checklists, deadlines, and more. Start slowly, but definitely give this great tool a try. You can find Trello by going to Trello.com or downloading the app (I use both). In fact, we have all our store managers use Trello, and the results are terrific. Identity Theft Is Real, Consider A Password Program Like Keeper Security Every month, you read that another company was hacked, and personal identification was stolen, which might have been yours. Data experts strongly suggest that you create a password up to 16 digits, using letters, numbers, and symbols, for every website requiring a password. This goes for your banking information, credit card sites, Apple computer, and even Facebook. Creating and using passwords this long and complicated is very difficult. Keeper Security makes it easy. You open an account with Keeper Security, and you store all your passwords for your sites and important information inside the program. Everyone should take a half hour and learn how to use this program or a similar password-protection program. In my case, I have a totally different password for every single site I use. Yes — every one. When I need to log in to something, I open Keeper Security first (using the app), and I copy that specific password to my clipboard. Then, I open the app I need and paste the password. It takes an extra step, but it keeps my data safe. Data experts say that even if your data is hacked, the hackers still may not be able to get in, as long as you have a really strong password. Last but not least, keep your Keeper Security password in a really safe place ! You don’t want to forget that password, and you don’t want anyone else getting it or they will have access to all your sites ( very important ). Last, but not least, thank you, Mom. You were the one who showed me this great program! I hope this was helpful. Please let me know if it was. I would love your feedback. All the best to you, and I hope you have another great day!

Whether you’re baking, frying, or grilling, all meat needs to be cooked to a minimum internal temperature before it's safe to eat. You’ve probably seen labels or signs telling you to heat your food to a certain temperature for safety, but how do you know how hot it is? This is why a good meat thermometer is absolutely necessary for everyone to have in their home, especially as foodborne illnesses become more common in the United States. Once you have one, here are some guidelines for cooking all your meats. Beef, Veal, and Lamb Chops of meat have a very Internal Temperature Guidelines for Delicious Meat Food Safety and Flavor in One Package

whether it's ground, boneless, or a whole roaster. Make sure your thermometer is not touching bone when you check the temperature. Ground Meats All ground meats other than poultry should be heated to at least 160 degrees. This is paramount for food safety, as ground meats can be a major cause of foodborne illness. Cooking to this internal temperature also guarantees the best flavor. If you have questions about how to cook a specific cut of meat, stop by any one of our Foodtown locations today. Our team of qualified specialists will be glad to help you pick out the perfect cut for your next meal and give you the direction you need to make it as delicious as it looks. Clean Up Before You Fire Up! Tips to Make Your Grill Ready for the Season The smell of burning charcoal and an open flame can only mean one thing: It’s grilling season. Before you fire up your grill to sear some of our quality Angus steaks this spring, it’s best to run it through a quick cleaning session. Here’s a simple guideline you can use for propane and charcoal grills alike. Start With the Grates Grab a bucket of hot soapy water for both scrubbing and soaking. Start by hitting the grates hard with a metal grill brush to free up any residue, then tackle them with a wet sponge. Once you’ve scrubbed all the grates, dump them into the bucket to soak. Spotless Interior While your grates are soaking, start tackling the underbelly and interior. If you have a propane grill, make sure to cover the heating units with tin foil so they don’t become damaged. Crisp Exterior Even though you may have the cleanest grates in town and a practically new interior, nothing can scare a guest away from your grilled steaks quicker than a dirty exterior. Some warm soapy water and a stainless-steel cleaner should do the trick.

different cooking range than ground meats. For these three traditional types, it’s important to make sure the internal temperature reaches at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Once you’ve hit that threshold, you’re not done yet. The USDA recommends a three-minute rest time before consuming or carving. Pork All cuts of pork should be cooked to between 145 and 160 degrees. This will ensure the product is safe to consume yet still maintains its flavor profile. As with the meats above, it’s important to let pork rest for three minutes before serving. Poultry Chicken, turkey, and other poultry should be cooked thoroughly to 165 degrees. This guideline applies
