This is a high profile role within the University requiring strong collaboration across a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders. The post holder will support the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development deliver strategic planning leadership whilst also ensuring robust operational project management plans are established. The key area of responsibility will be the planning and delivery of : • - The Capital Programme (via the Corporate Master-planning process)

Principal Accountabilities:

The main responsibilities of the Assistant Director - Capital Development are: - As part of the Estates Facilities and Capital Development Senior Leadership Team (ESLT) executive, actively contribute to the development of effective Strategic Plans for the built environment ensuring alignment to the MMU Estates Masterplan.

- Develop and maintain an effective and professional Project Management service that supports excellent student and staff experience.

- Lead on the development, delivery and communication of the University’s Capital Investment Plan, reporting and presenting progress to senior stakeholders (internal and external) as directed by the Director of Estates and the Governance framework.

- Assist on the prioritisation, delivery and communication of the University’s Estates related Minor Projects, reporting and presenting progress to senior stakeholders

- Maintain excellent stakeholder engagement and communication, including (but not restricted to) Faculty “clients”, Professional Services Colleagues, Manchester City Council and external funding bodies.

- Maintain effective and regular communication with project managers, contractors, external consultants and the design team/s to support the delivery of the Capital Programme

- Lead and provide direction to the Estates Development team and ensure work is completed to the highest standards, within budget and programme, in accordance with all appropriate regulations.

- Develop and implement appropriate project management structures and procurement strategies. Ensure team capability and capacity is aligned to the prioritised work plan

- Review completed projects to ensure successful delivery within agreed parameters, legislation and procedures.

- Introduce a formal project management quality system for the full life cycle of all projects/ development work. - Ensure all Estates Developments comply with current legal and statutory obligations.

- Keep abreast of new standards and best practice with regard to Strategic Estates Development and recommend how they can be used to further the University’s strategic aims.

- Take a lead role across Estates, Facilities and Capital Development Directorate or Services Group for at least one key strategic area as determined by the Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development.

- Deputise for the Director of Estates Facilities and Capital Development as may be required.
