Skills and Abilities

Proven and demonstrable experience in: Leading staff development; business planning and resource management; chairing skills; budget management and control; report writing; time and project management and quality enhancement. Strong influencing, communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate a clear vision for a wide range of audiences in a variety of media. Ability to negotiate effectively with external and internal stakeholders, suppliers and consultants. Demonstrable knowledge of good practice and guidance relating to effective Programme & Project management. Extensive experience in Strategic Master-planning in the context of a city centre higher education environment. Strong customer-service ethos and ability to embed a service culture throughout Estates Development A degree or relevant professional qualification in a Building or Engineering related discipline Proven record of strong leadership and management of a significant Project Portfolio, up to £500m over 10 years. In depth understanding of the critical role of Governance in a large and complex organisation. Demonstrable commitment to customer satisfaction and a proven record of developing customer focused staff. Experience of undertaking major projects (over £50m) in Higher Education or a similar complex organisation Candidates should be able to travel as necessary within the UK and overseas. Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. RICS, MCIOB, MICE, RIBA, MCIBSE, APM, MIET. Skills in change management in particular the human resource development aspects of enabling change.
