Four Wrong Attitudes Toward the Coming of Christ 1. Indifference—“My L o r d delayeth” (Matt. 24:48). 2. Neglect—“No oil” (Matt. 25:3). 3. Indolence—“Hid th y talent” (Matt. 25:25). 4. Self-righteousness—“W h en saw we thee hungry?” (Matt. 25:44). — Selected. — o — Earnestness 1. Earnest devotion (Matt. 26:7). A woman sought Jesus in spite o f her unworthiness, and gave one of the most precious and treasured posses sions. 2. Earnest trust (Lk. 8:43). A timid, trembling woman pushed through the crowd and touched the hem o f the Lord’s garment, because she believed He would heal her, and He did. 3. Earnest humility (Lk. 7:1). A man, wealthy and in a position of great authority, sought Jesus in spite of his circumstances, and the Lord honored his humility and faith. 4. Earnèst hope (Mk. 10:46). A blind beggar believed that Christ could give him sight. Although the crowd rebuked him, Jesus honored his earnestness, by giving him vision. 5. Earnest faith (Mk. 8:24). A mother sought Jesus for her daugh ter who was possessed of a demon, and she continued to seek in spite of His seeming opposition. Jesus honored her faith, classifying it as greater than any He had noted, even among His chosen people. — I. W. — o — Smiling “ The skin o f Moses’ face shone" (Ex. 34:35). “ The glory of his countenance” (2 Cor. 3:7). A smile may be forced, but a real smile is born o f grace, is fed by love, and is the outcome of the joy of the Lord within. Those who are the Lord’s and are walk ing with Him have ^ right to stale. 1. His word of promise is tneir food (Jer. 15:16). 2. His love o f affection is their stay (John 13:1). 3. His presence of power is their comfort (Psa. 23:4). 4. His service o f care is their confidence (Matt. 6:32). 5. His prayer of intercession is their rest (Rom. 8:26-28). 6. His grace of sufficiency is their glory (2 Cor. 12:9-11). 7. His abiding of joy is their inspiration (John 15 :ll) . — F. E. Marsh.

Be of Good Comfort 2 Cor. 13:11 1. The comfort of God the Father (2 Thess. 2:16, 17; 2 Cor. 1 :3, 4). 2. The comfort o f Christ (Isa. 61:1-3; Lk. 8:48). 3. The comfort of the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:31; John 14:16, 26). 4. The comfort of the Scriptures (Rom. 15:4; 1 Thess. 4:18). . 5. The comfort of love (Phil. 2:1; Col. 2 :2). — Selected.
