PTI 703 GUILT, CONSCIENCE, AND SOCIALIZATION (2)
A discussion of guilt and conscience, including both biblical and psychological theories on the origins of guilt and conscience and the expressions of these theories in therapy. Prerequisites: PTI 701 and admission to didactic. PTI 704 ANGER, AGGRESSION, AND HOSTILITY (2) A discussion of anger and related emotions and behaviors, including the catharsis hypotheses and aggression in fantasy. Prerequisites: PTI 701 and admission to didatic. PTI 705 THEOLOGICAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PRACTICE OF PSYCHOTHERAPY (2) A consideration of various viewpoints on the utilization of theological concepts in psychotherapeutic practice. Attention is given to specific therapeutic interventions MATURITY: PSYCHOLOGICAL AND THEOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVES (2) Various approaches to the concept of maturity are reviewed , including the psychological, biblical, and devotional. A major focus is placed on the similarities and differences between biblical and psychological maturity as seen by such integ ration theorists as Carter, Clines, Grounds, and Oakland. Elective. Prerequisites: PTI 701 and admission to didactic. PTI 708 ATTITUDES, VALUES AND BELIEFS (2) The psychological nature of beliefs, attitudes and values as they relate to socializa tion, conformity, belief systems, and social influence. Special emphasis is given to values in therapy, and the therapist as a values purveyor. Elective. Prerequisites: PTI 701 and admission to didactic. PIT 709 INTEGRATION AND THERAPY (2) consistent with a theological view of man. Elective. Prerequisites: PTI 701 and admission to didactic. PTI 707 The focus of this seminar is on " explicit integration" in psychotherapy. The distinc tives of the Christian therapist and his therapeutic conceptualizations and interven tions will be examined. Elective. Prerequisites: PTI 701 and admission to didactic. PTI 720 INDEPENDENT STUDY IN PSYCHOLOGICAUTHEOLOGICAL INTEGRATION (1-3) Individual work, directed reading, or special problems in the integration of psychol ogy and theology. Students should consult faculty members prior to registration to submit a course proposal and to determine whether or not arrangements can be made for an independent study. Required courses may not be taken through inde pendent study. 50
