Aquatics

The Aquatic Staff thank all Members for another great season. We hope all enjoyed the pools, despite some excessively hot weather. Special thanks to all our coaches and instructors, especially those who provided instruction and lessons into September. Suzy Thompson continues as the best Water Aerobics instructor ever! Thanks are also due to Sarah and Shelby Hodgkins, who continued to teach well after Labor Day.

- FOR A WONDERFUL SEASON - The Aquatic staff takes all your feedback very seriously and look forward to doing what we can to improve your experience. Of note is the communication at Fairfax, where Micky Minutoli was appreciative of your positive support, and is committed to continue to direct his staff to providing the best possible service. We would also like to recognize all Aquatic Committee Members who worked tirelessly through another successful competitive season for both the Swim and Dive Teams. Special congratulations goes to Anita O’Quinn and her coaching staff for placing 3rd in the CCSDA Championships. This is the highest ANCC has ever placed in the 62 year history of the league. Despite the forecast for Hurricane Hermine to impact our area on our Zootopia Movie and Raft Night, we had excellent weather with more in attendance then had registered!

Water Aerobics Tip from Suzie Thompson Regular moderate exercise provides the greatest life fitness and health values! It is so much better to get on a regular schedule of two to three sessions per week, than to exercise five times one week, and zero times the next. Select a schedule YOU can keep! Water Aerobics is the best workout for keeping the stress on joints and muscles moderate while getting a great workout. I hope to see all of you next summer!

But the shadow of war in 1941 was beginning to take its toll, slowing the level of activity. During the war years, the Club was used mostly by members’ families. The post-war era saw the pace of tennis activities quicken, with many more male players and their families joining the game. The growing interest in tennis justified a new Har-Tru court in 1952 and the addition of three Plexi-Pave courts in 1962. Expansion of Tennis at ANCC was back on track!
