My Failures Define My Success

And I’m Proud of It!

I laughed and said, “Young man, I have failed more times than I can count. I’ve made tons of mistakes, and there have been multiple times when I’ve felt like there was no way I could get this business thing right. The only reason I’ve been successful is because of my failures.” I think my answer burst his bubble, because all he said in response was, “Oh.” This young man is a straight-A student, and he’s been great at everything he’s ever tried. Knowing this, I encouraged him not to be disheartened. “As you get older, you learn that nobody knows what they are doing the moment they start out,” I said. “Everyone learns by trial and error, and mistakes are the things that make you better.” from my lack of knowledge about the business world. Classes may teach you how to practice law, but they don’t teach you how to run a business. However, I was young and ambitious, and I began by basing my decisions off the actions of experienced attorneys. This worked in some cases, but in others, this strategy led to failure. Soon, I began trusting my own intuition and going against the grain to find more success. This strategy did reap rewards, but I also experienced plenty of failures I’ve made many mistakes in my career. At the beginning, these mistakes stemmed

because of it. After a while, it felt as though it didn’t matter which path I chose, because they all led to failure. After some self-reflection and discussion with those I trust, I realized that the reason I had been experiencing so many failures was because I hadn’t bothered to learn anything from my mistakes. Once I took the time to analyze my choices and their consequences and apply the lessons to my subsequent decisions, I became a better boss, strategist, and attorney. More often than not, young people are afraid to make mistakes. However, as any experienced adult knows, it’s just part of the everyday process. Failure doesn’t define you; it refines you. Recently, the team at Dellutri took a huge risk and opened the Tampa office. This could end up being my biggest blunder ever, or it could turn out to be something truly special. Either way, I know that I’m going to learn something from it, and we will all be better for it. No one writes the great American novel on their first try. In this young man’s case, he needed to understand that he’s going to make a lot of mistakes in the next few years. If he learns from his mistakes, he will know the sweet but hard-earned feeling of success.

Now that spring is here and the end of the school year is approaching, high school seniors are starting to gear up for their last summer before embarking on their college journey. Recently, I had a high school senior approach me to ask if I could give him any tips on his quickly approaching journey, and more specifically, his desire to get into law school. When I met up with this young man, he started off by telling me all the reasons he wanted to go to law school. He also told me that he sought me out specifically because he knows I have been successful in my business, and he was sure that I could share some of my secrets with him.

Steps to Take After an Airbnb Injury With summer just around the corner, you’re probably itching to escape to a new place. It may also mean that you are eager to leave Florida and head to a new destination in order to avoid the tourism madness. Renting an apartment away from home on a website like Airbnb can be a lot of fun, and it can also open up many new horizons; you will, after all, get to see what it’s like to really live as a local.

But what happens when an accident occurs on a rental property? Who do you call, and who is to blame? While the laws in every state are different, there are some basic things that you should do right away if you are injured on a property that is not your own: • Go to the hospital right away, so that your injuries are documented. • Take photos of the area where you fell or hurt yourself. • Do not tamper with anything inside of the home.

• Do not lie about what happened.

The most important thing to remember when renting to someone or renting from someone else is to always document every detail. Never leave anything undocumented, and always tell the truth.

• Do not try to solicit money from the person renting to you.

HERE’S WHAT OUR CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY:

“I had a great experience with the Dellutri Law Group. I felt like I was dealing with family members who really care and understand. They really guided me through the process and spared me any embarrassment. They worked so fast and helped me get my life back again. If you are looking for a great, knowledgeable, and experienced firm that handles bankruptcy, then the Dellutri Law Group is the right one for you. Thank you very much, Dellutri Law Group, for all of your assistance. I’m truly grateful.”

The Artisan Eatery, located off Daniels Parkway in Fort Myers, has been knocking the socks off the locals with their fresh and delicious menu. After opening its doors this past December, the Artisan Eatery is taking over with outstanding Google reviews and word-of-mouth praise.

years in some of Philly’s best restaurants. It wasn’t until Tim and his wife, Healy, moved to Fort Myers (Healy’s hometown) that they decided to open a restaurant of their own. Artisan Eatery opened its doors to the Fort Myers area with local farm-to-table ingredients, which sets them apart from their competition. They wanted to give the area the “best of both worlds,” with an affordable menu and fine-dining taste. The casual environment and quick service is a perk, making it the best place to swing by for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner!

If you have questions, or if you would simply like to check out their menu, visit their website at Artisaneatery.com or call 239-887-4844.

We had to know more, so we contacted Tim and Healy Yoa, the owners of Artisan Eatery. Tim revealed some amazing details about their restaurant that we just had to share! Tim’s passion for the culinary arts started back in high school, when he took the leap into cooking through his school’s culinary program. As his love for cooking grew, so did his talent. After finishing high school, he was awarded a full scholarship to the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Tim continued to excel in his trade throughout college and was awarded the best-in-class award when he graduated. With a degree secured, Tim worked for 10

Team Spotlight: MeetNathalie!

Mixed Baby Greens With Honey Poppy Seed Vinaigrette

Nathalie is our newest receptionist on the Dellutri Law Group team! When she was younger, Nathalie always thought about becoming a paralegal. Considering most of her background is in customer service, it was natural for her to come and join us when we were seeking a new receptionist for our front desk. Stepping into a new position isn’t always easy, but we are excited to have Nathalie because of her determination.

This month’s recipe is directly from Chef Tim Yoa’s collection at Artisan Eatery.

Honey Poppy Seed Vinaigrette Ingredients • 1/4 cup honey

• 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard • 1 cup blended oil • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds

Directions 1. Toss together salad ingredients. 2. In a blender or Mason jar with lid, combine honey, vinegar, and mustard. Blend or shake vigorously. 3. Drizzle in oil on low speed until thickened or add to Mason jar and shake well. 4. Stir in poppy seeds. Pour desired amount over prepared salad.

Nathalie is someone who just understands the way we operate and who is on top of her game in spite of anything we throw her way. When we asked which aspect of her new position excites her most, she said, “I am just excited about learning something new!” Our clients love her, and so do we. Welcome to our team, Nathalie. We are happy to have you on board and excited to watch you grow with us.

Why You Should Consider a Media Detox

DO YOU NEED A MEDIA DETOX?

With the current trend of getting TV, social media, and news alerts sent to our phones, we have access to more media than we could ever consume. While constant connectivity is a boon for many aspects of our lives, researchers are discovering that too much stimulation is cause for concern. One study in the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology found that too much social comparison, spurred by the likes of Facebook and cable news, can lead to an increased risk of depression. If you find yourself pressured to live up to the public lives of friends and family, or if you feel like you’re being bombarded with too much news and entertainment, consider a media detox. A detox doesn’t require you to unsubscribe from social media services or unplug your TV forever. Instead, think of it as a vacation from the overstimulation so many of us experience. Ask yourself which aspects of your media diet are causing more stress than they’re worth, and take a break from them for a little while. “In the same way we think about what we eat, we should think about what we read, what we’re seeing, what we’re engaging in, and what we’re interacting with every day,” Emma Watson told CNN in an interview about her selective social media use. If you’re not mindful of your media consumption and participation, it tends to pile up. When you detox, it’s a lot easier to identify which parts of your media diet are essential and which are only a burden.

Another benefit of a media detox is that you’ll have more time to pursue new and dormant hobbies. Because most of us consume media in small chunks throughout the day, it’s easy to overlook how much that time adds up. All those hours you spend on Facebook could be used to start a garden, knit a quilt, or join a soccer league. Unless you have an unlimited supply of leisure time (and who does?), you need to be selective in the way you spend it. Remember, media isn’t the cause of all your ills. Used mindfully, it can actually increase happiness and satisfaction. The problem is that we are so mired in the media muck that we can’t get a perspective on how much is too much. A detox will allow you to reassess the media you’re consuming and build a better plan for the future. You can still keep up with your grandkids on Facebook, but it shouldn’t be the only way you interact with the world.
