Credit card scam in circulation No one likes having to pay interest on their credit card bills, and con artists are banking on that to make a very simple telephone scam work in the Eastern Ontario region. Police recently issued a warning about credit card scam now circulating in the area. Homeowners get a phone call from someone offering to help them lower the interest rates on their credit cards. The con artist asks if the homeowner has a Visa or Mastercard and then asks for the credit card number “to apply the lower interest rate.” – Gregg Chamberlain
