IMPORTANT VOTING PROCESS
ROCKLAND | It’s been a fun and very prof- itable way to combine physical fitness, fun, and fundraising for Rockland District High School’s athletics program. Despite some morning drizzle and the lowering skies threatening more rain in the afternoon, the annual Grind all-day recre- ational fundraiser Oct. 17 saw almost all of the senior classes, along with a good crowd of junior students and the new arrivals at RDHS for Grades 7 and 8 head outside for round-robin runs through a variety of team sports. “Over a third of the school participated,” said Andrew Lawford, Grind organizer and a regular coach for several of the high school’s extra-curricular sports programs. This year Grind participants raised about $5400 in pledges. The bulk of the funds will go towards equipment for the Fitness Fac- tory setup at the school, which provides a place for weight-training and other extra- curricular physical fitness work for both athletes on the school’s rugby, soccer, track, and other sports teams, and for students not involved in organized sports but who want to do more exercise outside of their regular gymnasium classes. Over the years the Grind fundraising has helped supplement the school’s athletic program budget, allowing purchase of sports materials and also providing for trav- el expenses for teams attending regional tournaments.
CLARENCE-ROCKLAND – Tuesday October 21 2014 – The second Voter Information Letter was mailed out to all eligible electors on the Voters’ List. It was brought to our attention that the Voting PIN was visible through the window of certain envelopes resulting in both the Voter ID and Voting PIN not remaining confidential to the elector. An emergency plan has been put in place in order to ensure the credibility for the 2014 Municipal Elections. Consequently, the voting period will proceed as planned, however all eligible electors will be asked to present themselves in person at a voting location with a piece of identification and their two Voter Information Letters. Eligible electors who have not yet received their Information Letters must also present themselves with a piece of identification.
