Minnesota Orient, Sahabah Youth Mentorship Program Report Supporting Liaison: Illustrious Kymphus Muhammad 33° The Sahabah Youth Mentor Program, based in North Minneapolis, is committed to providing vital mentoring, guidance, support, and friendship to youth ages 10 to 25. Our program focuses on building self- esteem, facilitating career development, reinforcing values, and offering a safe space for young people to grow and thrive. Our approach empowers youth through various methods, including one-on-one mentoring, healing circles, and group activities tailored to the individual needs of the mentee. We understand that each young person is unique and may require different forms of support. Some youth come from troubled backgrounds and need
guidance due to trauma and dysfunction in their households. Others are young scholars seeking help with college enrollment advice, study skills development, and navigating their academic careers as first-generation college students. Additionally, many young people raised in single-mother households seek male leadership and companionship, while others simply need someone to share their interests, attend their athletic events and hobby pursuits, or offer a different perspective on life. The program currently supports 42 youth, including 27 males and 22 mentors, 14 of whom are male. Over the past four years, the Sahabah Youth Mentor Program has engaged in a broad range of initiatives and activities designed to foster growth, resilience, and skill development among our participants. These include HBCU tours, tradesmen luncheons, firearm safety and hunting training, career development, job placement, effective communication skills, and financial literacy projects. I invite you to learn more about the program, our achievements, and how you can make a meaningful difference in a young person's life. Our website and promotional materials are available for additional information. We hold activities at the Open Door Learning Center, Masjid An-Nur, McKinley Community Center, and North Commons Community Center, and we are exploring partnerships with organizations such as the Jerry Gamble Boys and Girls Club, Cedar Creek Science Reserve, and the University of Minnesota. It was a very good year. And as the ice melts in Minnesota, we look to return to our formal participation level throughout the Orient and jurisdiction of Minnesota.
